ALFRED, Maine (AP) — A police officer says items seized from a woman accused of using her Zumba fitness studio as a front for prostitution in Maine included a badge and state identification as an assistant investigator.
Lawyers for Mark Strong say fitness instructor Alexis Wright studied under Strong to become a private investigator. But a state police spokesman said Friday that private investigators aren’t allowed to carry badges.
Strong is on trial for 13 counts related to promotion of prostitution. Wright will be tried later.
The defense contends Strong was targeted because he was investigating alleged unprofessional conduct by the lead investigator and other officers in Kennebunk.
