Draymond Green netted 15 points, including a key basket in the closing seconds Monday to boost No. 19 Michigan State to a 65-62 win over Northwestern.
The Spartans (10-4 2-0 Big Ten) held a double-digit lead in the second half but Northwestern steadily chipped away at it and a 3-pointer and lay-in off a John Shurna feed by Michael Thompson cut the deficit to one point, 63-62, with 32 seconds left.
Green grabbed the rebound of a missed Keith Lucas free throw and put it in with 14 seconds remaining.
Green finished with 11 rebounds while Lucas and Durrell Summers added 12 each for Michigan State.
Drew Crawford led the Wildcats (9-3, 0-2) with 17 points and eight rebounds and Thompson scored 12 points.
