Iraqi defense authorities have received delivery of an aircraft from Alliant Techsystems modified with next-generation targeting and data link technologies.
Minnesota-based ATK announced its recent delivery of an AC-208B Combat Caravan aircraft under a contract supporting the rebuilding of the Iraqi air force. Officials say the delivery marks the third aircraft delivered as part of the deal.
The Combat Caravan, which is a modified Cessna Grand Caravan equipped with a targeting system, laser guided missiles and new data link capabilities among other technologies, was delivered to the Iraq Training and Advisory Mission based in Kirkuk, Iraq.
"ATK delivers cost-effective, integrated platform solutions, across a variety of mission areas, at a fraction of traditional cost and timelines," Bill Kasting, ATK Integrated Systems Division vice president and general manager, said in a statement.
"ATK's Combat Caravan builds upon our successful reconnaissance version of the C-208 aircraft, by providing a robust and versatile light-attack capability."
