Hundreds of thousands of pager messages sent during the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in New York and Washington were released by a Web site Wednesday, officials say.

The site, Wikileaks, calls itself a forum for people to post information freely without censorship or fear of harassment.

Wikileaks will post all the text messages chronologically over a 24-hour-period, The Guardian reported.

They include messages sent by worried relatives, firefighters, police, soon-to-be-dead victims, witnesses, Pentagon and defense employees, and New York residents shortly after the attacks that destroyed the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York, damaged the Pentagon in Washington and crashed a jetliner in Pennsylvania, the British newspaper said.

A few examples from unidentified senders:

-- "Honey wanted to tell you how much i love you. I was a little worried.I Don't want to lose you now that I got you back. You mean everything to me. You have my whole heart and life. I love you so much."

-- 10.46am There is NO WORLD TRADE CENTER, ANYMORE! Honey, stay put and be safe. May G-d help us!

-- 10.54am YOU ARE ON ALERT FOR POSSIBLE DEPLOYMENT - LOCATION UNKNOWN - PACK AND BE READY TO MOVE.

The Web site declined to say how it got hold of the emotional pages.

"It is clear that the information comes from an organization which has been intercepting and archiving U.S. national telecommunications since prior to 9/11," a Wikileak representative said. "We hope that its entry into the historical record will lead to a more nuanced understanding of how this tragedy and its aftermath may have been prevented."

Publisher's Note: Of course, the obvious answer to how the web site got their hands on these 'text messages' is that they made them up; pure fabrication in my opinion. A neat idea if you're looking for traffic on your web site.
