What You Need To Know About Social Media Marketing

Just because you suddenly decide to start a blog, or use Twitter and Facebook does not mean you will instantly gain clients

You need to promote your blog. It is not enough that you blog regularly, you need to make sure that people find your blog.  There are about 200 million blogs published by people from all around the globe.  If you start a blog now, you are competing with 200 million other blogs and possibly thousands of blogs from your own niche.   If you do not promote your blog, how will people find it?

Strive to make your blog a worthy-read. Think of your blog as a magazine and strive to make the most relevant and freshest materials for your blog.  It is not always easy to come up with good content for your blog daily and this is why you should always try to think of ideas for your blog. If you are always hit by good ideas in the most unlikely of places, make sure you have a small notebook that you can use to jot down quick ideas.  If you have a marketing group with creative copywriters, get them to think of and write contents for you. If you do not have staff you can delegate the task to, hire a virtual assistant or a freelance copywriter to write the blogs for you. Remember, even your blog serves as your business’ representation online. You cannot afford to have a blog that is poorly-written and does not represent your business well.

Make sure you have a marketing plan in place.  You cannot jump into social media, grapple with using them and then only later desperately try to figure out how you can benefit from social media. You can jump into social media initially so that you can figure out a way to reap your benefits from them but once you get a feel of the different social media make sure you have a carefully drafted plan on how to harness the benefits from your social media use.

Social media marketing takes a lot of time.  You might find yourself using social media more than you intended.  This is well and good if you gain benefits from them. But if you do not have a carefully-drafted marketing plan, you might find yourself getting suckered into spending all of your hours on social media and sacrificing much of your time that you really should be spending on other important tasks in the business.

Make sure that you use social media to establish a strong and positive online reputation.  Your reputation is important because it is what people will base their interactions with you on. Your online reputation is VERY important.
