A celebrated Tamil Tiger separatist supporter was put on a plane in Toronto hours before the separatist group was to hold its Martyrs' Day observances Friday.
Film director Sebastian Seeman was told by the Canada Border Services Agency he was deemed inadmissible just days after arriving and told to return home to India to prevent him from inciting thousands of Tamils at the ceremony, the Globe and Mail reported.
It wasn't clear how he got a visa to come to Canada, the newspaper said.
At speeches this week, Seeman spoke glowingly about slain Tamil Tiger leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran, who led much of the bloody 26-year insurrection against the majority Sinhalese government of Sri Lanka seeking Tamil independence.
Toronto is home to the largest concentration of Tamils outside of South Asia, security officials say.
Martyrs' Day celebrates the suicide bombers and rebels who gave their lives during the conflict and its location in Toronto is kept secret until just before it begins, the report said.
