Ralph, a German-born self-defense expert and book author, has been training in martial arts for more than 30 years. Ralph started his training in judo, Japanese jiu-jitsu and karate, inspired by movies like the 1971 hit A Touch of Zen and seeing Bruce Lee on the big screen for the first time.

The Rostock, Germany native opened the country’s first Wing Tsun Fu school despite being under Communist control at the time. Ralph was a political prisoner for some time due to his ties to martial arts organizations in the West. After his release, he opened another Kung Fu school in Canada.

Ralph has been heavily involved in the sports publishing industry, producing a magazine and writing several books since 1995. His latest book is entitled The Reality of Self Defense: What Martial Arts Schools Won’t Tell You.” He has several more in the final stages of publishing.
