According to George W. Ilchert, Esq., a partner with Lurie, Ilchert, Mac Donnell and Ryan, LLP (www.limrlaw.com), a New York malpractice law firm that specializes in championing for the rights of those who have suffered as a result of past Yasmin use, the drug, manufactured by Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Inc., is now proven to cause severe and lasting injuries.

“Yasmin, also known as Yaz, is claimed by many to be a dangerous prescription drug that has been sold without adequate warnings about the risk of the serious injuries it is known to cause," says Ilchert. "As a result, an increasing number of lawsuits are being filed against Bayer over injuries resulting from the use of its popular birth control pill."

Ilchert says that the hundreds of lawsuits that have already been filed document cases of women suffering from strokes, blood clots, gallbladder disease and other serious illnesses. In some cases, he notes, Yaz use has resulted in death.

"This popular contraceptive pill generated nearly $2 billion in revenue for Bayer last year alone," says Ilchert, "but lawsuits claim that the product was marketed improperly, without the required warnings about its side effects."

According to Ilchert, Yaz iz manufactured using drospirenone, a progestin that elevates potassium levels which can lead to hyperkalemia and a slew of other health issues. In the highly competitive oral contraception market, the drug was marketed as not just a birth control pill, Ilchert says, but as a treatment for premenstrual dysphoric disorder, premenstrual syndrome and moderate acne.

"At the same time, Bayer allegedly minimized the health risks associated with the product," he says. "Anyone who has suffered from the use of Yasmin is urged to call a personal injury lawyer that specializes in pharmaceutical injuries."

Established for more than 50 years, Lurie, Ilchert, Mac Donnell & Ryan LLP, located at 475 Park Avenue South (32nd Street) New York, NY, 10016, specializes in representing victims of all types of accidents including construction and demolition, falls from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs, automobiles, trains, and busses, babies with cerebral palsy and other brain damage, general medical malpractice, saws and electrical tools without guards, and slip and fall cases.
