C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity, Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy) is pleased to bring you the latest updates regarding the NICE project (Nordic Initiative Clean and Ethical), initiated by the NFA Nordic Fashion Association, at which CLASS has been nominated as the official supplier of all eco-innovation fabrics, materials and products for the Fashion Summit on December 9th. The Fashion Summit is being held at the famous Copenhagen Opera House and will include a sustainable design competition between 20 young designers* from various Nordic Countries along with a catwalk show featuring their collections.
The 20 Nordic designers participating, hail from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland and have been using innovative eco-sustainable fabrics all supplied by the manufacturing companies which are international partners of the CLASS global network. The majority of manufacturers are well-known Italian textile producers.
To complete the eco-story at this event, thanks to a unique collaboration with NatureWorks, the producer of Ingeo™ (a new bio-material derived from plants instead of oil), CLASS has been able to supply catering accessories such as dishes, glasses, cutlery, coffee cups as well as an eco-floor covering and some eco-pens.
Furthermore, for the very first time at the Fashion Summit, Galactic SA, a worldwide commercial company and second largest global producer of lactic acid and lactates, with manufacturing sites in Europe (Belgium), Asia (China) and USA, will collect all the Ingeo™ products made for and used at this event and put them through their revolutionary chemical recycling process, which transforms the now redundant Ingeo™ products back into the original first grade polymer. www.lactic.com
For this special occasion, bespoke goody-bags have been created with the use of “zero impact” textiles that are certified by the Italian Prato Chamber of Commerce, a unique project recently launched under the “Cardato Regenerated CO2 neutral” banner.
On the same day (December 9th), a special installation of 27 fabrics will be exhibited at the Copenhagen Opera House. These will be divided into 3 different ISLANDS consisting of 9 fabrics each, reflecting the 3 lifestyle categories represented by the CLASS network: Naturals and Organics – Repurposed and Recycled – Innovative Renewables. Together, these materials demonstrate a meaningful expression of the unique synergy between creativity, innovation and the environment that all combine to make beautiful, highly innovative and sometimes high performance fabrics designed for today’s fashion, but now with that extra dimension and value responsibility. The exhibition will also show 2 special design/lifestyle items made with eco-sustainable materials: bags made with recycled seat belts by Italian designer Paolo Ferrari and a motorbike helmet covered in a naturally farmed mother-of-pearl product branded Superlativa™ for the Italian company Fashion Helmet.
After the Fashion Summit the whole exhibition will travel to one of the City Hall Square Pavilions, in the heart of the Danish capital, and will be open to the public on December 10th, from 12.00 pm to 8.00 pm.
The Fashion Summit is set to be a monumental reference point for the global fashion and clothing industry. The event runs alongside the COP15, United National Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
